Example Itinery
Day 1 - arrival
Pick up at Valencia airport, transfer to hotel in the city, which will be your home for 4 nights.
Around 18:30 you meet for a tasting of some of the best Valencian wines - in a bar in the historic centre of Valencia.
After the wine tasting you continue to a restaurant for a dinner of typical Valencian cuisine.
Day 2 - the old city (appr. 2.5 hours)
After breakfast you can explore the old city, seeing Valencia's historic highlights, like the cathedral, the Silk Exchange (15th century), and the Mercado Central, Europe's largest fresh produce market and a beautiful Modernist style building.
Day 3 - the modern city (appr. 5 hours)
You'll be picked up from your hotel to go and see the modern, futuristic part of Valencia, the "City of Arts and Science", designed by the famous Valencian architect Calatrava - a must see in Valencia.
Then continue to the port area, to see where the America's Cup and F1 GP races were held, and to the beach.
From here you will go to a restaurant at the beach to eat fideua, a typical Valencian dish of pasta and fish (one drink included).
You can spend the rest of the afternoon at the beach, or go back to the hotel.
Day 4 - Wine tour to Utiel-Requena (appr. 6 hours)
After breakfast you go to Utiel-Requena, one of Valencia's top wine regions, for a winery visit and some wine tastings; your guide is a vinologist/sommelier specialised in Valencian wines.
You'll go to one of the top wineries in the Requena region, which is completely accessible.
You will get explanations about the wine making process, and afterwards you get to taste some of their best wines.
From the winery we go for lunch (one drink included) in one of the villages, before going back to Valencia.
Day 5 - Lake Albufera tour (appr. 6 hours)
The Albufera Lake lies just south of Valencia, and is surrounded by rice paddies.
It's (with the dunes/forest between the lake and the sea) a protected nature reserve, where you can see many migratory birds.
On your way to the lake, you will learn about the history of the lake and the rice.
Then go to the village of El Palmar, to get on a boat for a trip on the lake.
The Albufera rice is grown especially for the paella, and at the lake you can find Valencia's best paellas!
So after the boat trip, there shouldn't really be any discussion about what to have for lunch... (one drink included).
After lunch you'll go back to Valencia.
Day 6 - Departure Day
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be taken back to the airport.
