Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Sao Miguel, visit to Ponta Delgada
- You will arrive at Sao Miguel Island and transfer in an adapted vehicle to the accessible hotel. Depending on your time of arrival, you may get to enjoy a cultural visit to the town of Ponta Delgada. There's plenty to do, such as visiting iconic monuments, old churches, and a museum documenting the natural history of the Azores.
- You will have a full-day tour to Furnas, with lunch included. The village is one of the main tourist attractions in Sao Miguel, with the Terra Nostra Park botanical garden featuring excellent vegetation, centenary trees, and the warm, therapeutic waters of the hot spring.
- Next you can travel to Sete Cidades, with lunch included. The caldera, formed from a tremendous eruption in 1445, is steep, miles across, and is filled with a serene blue lake. The high crater walls are covered in lush vegetation, making an awe-inspiring sight. The caldera also features a charming small hamlet, with a neo-Gothic style church.
- You will get a day at your own leisure, to explore the surrounds of Ponta Delgada from your hotel. There is an optional paid excursion provided: whale watching, in Ponta Delgada.
- You will make your departure transfer from the hotel to the airport.
