Day 2: Sete Cidades Caldera
You can travel to Sete Cidades for the full day, with lunch included on your trip.
The caldera, formed from a tremendous eruption in 1445, is steep, miles across, and filled with a serene blue lake.
The high crater walls are covered in lush vegetation, making an awe-inspiring sight.
The caldera also features a charming small hamlet, with a neo-Gothic style church.
Day 3: Furnas Hot Springs
You will have a full-day tour to Furnas, with lunch included.
The village is one of the main tourist attractions in Sao Miguel, with the Terra Nostra Park botanical garden featuring excellent vegetation, centenary trees, and the warm, therapeutic waters of the hot spring.
Day 4: Lagoa do Fogo (Fire Lake), Ribeira Grande
You will travel to Lagoa do Fogo, a lake formed from a volcanic eruption in 1563, over a mile across, and featuring a natural peninsula, white sand beach, and transparent waters.
Halfway up the crater wall, a steaming fumarole makes for a hot bath at 38 °C with a natural cascade.
Ribeira Grande is a historic town on the northern coast of Sao Miguel, picturesquely placed over a volcanic plateau on the sea, with great examples of 17th and 18th century architecture.
The town features an 8 arch bridge from the 18th century, still standing.
Day 5: Nordeste
Next you can travel to the remote location of Nordeste, largely unspoilt by development and elevated with fantastic views of the Atlantic sea.
The town includes great examples of historic architecture and traditional Azorean life, features green fields, spectacular cliffs, waterfalls, and notably includes the oldest and only still functioning tea plantation in Europe.
Day 6: Ponta Delgada, Whale Watching
There’s plenty to do in Ponta Delgada, such as visiting iconic monuments, old churches, and a museum documenting the natural history of the Azores.
In the town centre you can enjoy traditional Portuguese architecture with iconic whitewashed buildings, and black corners and window frames.
You can also experience first-hand the variety of marine life that lives in the Azores, watching the whales and dolphins.

You will make your departure adapted transfer from the hotel to the airport.
