Get away from it all to this luxurious Cornish escape. Close to the Devon border, this award-winning 2 bedroom luxury cottage, set in a private estate in Cornwall, provides the perfect venue for exploring both Cornwall and Devon. This is a single-storey, wheelchair-friendly barn converted from an original heather packing barn. Set in its own orchard garden on the edge of a 25 acre estate, it is a spacious (1000 sq ft) award-winning holiday cottage of the highest standard.
Access
Bedroom 1 has a level-entry wetroom and stylish chrome and stainless steel grab rails and fittings. This accommodation is single-storey and there is level/ramped entry. The cottage is M3a rated by the National Accessible Scheme. Internal doorways are all 840mm wide and there is space in all rooms for turning circles of 1200-1500mm. The large (480 sq ft) open plan sitting/dining/kitchen area is double height, with exposed beams, quadruple doors and a part-glass roof, creating a really light and airy space with great views over the orchard garden to the far hills.
Accommodation
This is a 2-bedroom cottage on one level. It has a large bedroom at each end, each with it’s own bathroom (bedroom 1 has a large level entry shower; bedroom 2 has a bath with shower over). The bright and airy open plan living area has a full spec oak kitchen, comfortable leather sofas and a large dining table. An eco-friendly biomass boiler provides ample hot water and powers the underfloor heating.
Bedroom 1 has a level-entry wetroom and stylish chrome and stainless steel grab rails and fittings. This bedroom has a wall-mounted smart-TV. Bedroom 2 has a shower bath. In both bedrooms, the beds have pocket sprung ziplink mattresses and can either be arranged as a superking double or as twin beds.
The kitchen is well equipped. You will find a dishwasher, washer-dryer, oven, microwave, ceramic hob, fridge, freezer, coffee maker, blender and a wide range of kitchen equipment and cookery books. There are plenty of pots, pans, serving dishes and casseroles. If you prefer outdoor cooking, each cottage has a Weber gas barbecue. So if you love to cook, you have everything on hand.
The cottage is very baby-friendly and dogs are very welcome too. Dogs and babies even get their own welcome pack!. There is an enclosed section of the garden to provide a secure area for children and dogs. The barn has a large garden with terrace, deck and private hot tub covered by a gazebo.
Facilities
The cottage has a CD player, radio, iPod dock, flatscreen television with DVD and freeview, radio alarms and hairdryers in the bedrooms, board games and books – everything you need for a lazy day in, or a quiet evening, if you don’t want to be out and about.
Food and Drink
In recent times, Cornwall has become something of a foodie destination, and there is plenty of choice of places to eat, from fine dining to pub grub.
If you don’t want to cook, but don’t want to go out either, then why not hire in a private chef. The cottage proprietors can recommend a private chef who will whip you up a fabulous dinner for very reasonable rates. She can either drop the prepared food off to your cottage, or stay and serve the dinner for extra fabulousness!
