Location
Cockermouth is a perfect base for visiting the West Lakes and fells, which have the advantage of being quieter than the Central Lakes, but are every bit as beautiful. Having said that, the Lake District is small enough to tour all of it from Cockermouth. It is also only about eight miles to the Solway Coast with long stretches of sandy beach and wonderful sunsets.
Cockermouth has a great number of good Restaurants, Takeaways and Pubs that serve bar meals. There are supermarkets that stay open late, all within one mile from the property. The nearest train station is at Workington (8 miles) and Cockermouth is on the long haul bus route from Whitehaven to London.
