Location
The cottage is nestled within the six acres of landscaped private gardens and woodland. Located in Wheston with its medieval cross, the hamlet lies just over a mile outside the lively village of Tideswell. Centrally placed in the unspoilt Peak District National Park, the cottage makes an ideal base to explore the unrivalled countryside, visiting Buxton & Bakewell and discovering the many other towns, villages, walks and rivers close by.
Access
The ground floor cottage was newly opened in May 2017 designed specifically with disabled guests in mind, it has a spacious open lounge/dining area/kitchen with a large patio and glorious views over fields and dales. The owners have supplied a mobile hoist for guests' use, just take along your own sling.
Accommodation
This is just one of four self-catering cottages onsite offering uninterrupted views over fields, dry stone walls and quiet country lanes and has two bedrooms sleeping up to four people. The single accessible room has an electric tilting bed (with optional guard rail) and futon bed for a second guest or carer. It also has use of the separate fully accessible wetroom. In addition to this there is a double bedroom with standard en-suite.
The large patio behind the cottage enjoys uninterrupted views over fields and over towards Millers Dale, the only thing blocking your view may be the cows! It has a dining table with benches and raised beds with a selection of plants chosen for their sensory nature, colour and texture. The owners have installed wide, level paths and lighting round the entire exterior of the building, giving safe and easy access to all areas from the level car park outside the front door. Off-road parking is available for 2 to 3 vehicles.
Whilst the other three cottages on site are not accessible for wheelchair users they can be booked together with this cottage to suit larger groups and families wishing to holiday together, one has a dining table which seats 15. The farm itself also offers farmhouse bed & breakfast accommodation with plenty of home cooked, locally sourced meals.
Facilities
All the doors have low thresholds and easy open handles. There is underfloor heating throughout the cottage, zoned in the bedrooms for independent control of each room.
The cottage is highly energy efficient with underfloor heating, triple glazed windows & doors, hi-spec insulation and a heat recovery unit which recycles air and keeps the atmosphere comfortable throughout, reusing 95% of the heat generated.
