Location
Le Bûcheron (the woodcutter) was lovingly restored over the winter of 2011 and is now a spacious yet romantic one bedroomed cottage with substantial views over the gardens and fabulous vista beyond. The property suits couples looking for a quiet retreat, elderly or mobility impaired guests requiring ground floor accommodation or families with small children sleeping in the same room as their parents.
The property is entered via the split stable door which leads directly to the large open plan living area and kitchen. The centre piece of this room is the magnificent tuffeau stone fireplace complete with an authentic log burning fire for those cooler evenings. The seating in both the lounge and dining areas is designed for up to four guests and includes a flat screen TV, DVD player, VHS Video and English free-to-air TV and an iPod dock are provided as standard for the comfort of our guests. Recently Apple TV has been added to the property with a Netflix subscription included.
The kitchen has been designed to be an integral part of the living space and enjoys a high level of equipment including electric hob, wall mounted built in oven and microwave. The property has been specified for a maximum of four people with a generous amount of crockery and cutlery being provided to accommodate this number. Because of the open plan design of this living space our guests can enjoy the ambiance of the living area whilst being engaged in the kitchen. During the renovation a staircase was added to the living room which allows for future expansion of the property. All accommodation for our guests in this property is located on the ground floor level only.
The exterior of the cottage is very private with a terrace on the south facing aspect complete with a table and four chairs. On the west aspect there is a sun terrace with a further table and chair set and a BBQ exclusively for guest of Le Bûcheron to use and two fully reclining sun loungers. The large above ground pool (20' x 12') is shared with our other property and is heated by a solar cover and is fully filtered for guests use during daylight hours.
The property has had new access ramps fitted to both external doors and full safety rails fitted in the wet room. Guests are provided with a shower stool and on request a travel wheelchair through their stay at Le Bûcheron.
Access
For those guests with some element of mobility impairment the cottage benefits from a full size wet room comprising of a large walk in hydro-massage shower unit, easy flush toilet and large basin. The room is also large enough to accommodate a wheelchair if required.
There is also a self-propelled wheelchair which is free to use whilst at the property which has a maximum width of 61cm so is easily able to clear all entry points. The wheelchair also folds down so can be used as a travel chair during the guests stay.
Accommodation
The bedroom is the full depth of the cottage providing spacious sleeping accommodation and has a beautiful traditional fireplace at its heart. The bed formation is made up of a double bed together with a full size single bed that has a second single bed which pulls out from underneath. This configuration allows for a maximum of four people in this room which would enable families with younger children to maximise their holiday budget. A high chair and cot are also available and are provided free of charge on request.
