The cottage is one of a collection of several interlinked self-catering cottages in the Isle of Man, achieving the Gold Award from Visit Isle of Man. The cottage has a Mobility 3 disability rating, making it suitable for wheelchair users.
The cottage is close to the stunning west coast of the Isle of Man. A few miles south of Peel and close to the small village of Glen Maye with its idyllic glen and pebbly beach, it is an ideal base for walking and other outdoor activities, yet also close to the amenities of Peel and the main, and historic, transport networks.
In the nearby fishing town of Peel, you can find various shops and Wi-Fi around the town, along with a swimming pool, museums, bank, post office, churches, and the island’s cathedral. The area boasts a fine array of wildlife, including choughs, hen harriers, seals and basking sharks.
Access
The self-catering cottage is wheelchair accessible, and includes a disabled bedroom with an en-suite accessible wet room on the ground floor of the accommodation. Ramps are provided for entrance to the cottage, and there is disabled parking. There is level access around the ground floor of the property, and the property has wood flooring. There are emergency pull cords in the living area, accessible bedroom, and wet room.
The kitchen includes low level work surfaces and cupboards. The work surfaces have clearance underneath for a wheelchair. There is 60 cm of clearance under the dining table, this can be increased if necessary. The entrance to the bedroom is 76 cm wide. There is 20 cm of clearance under the bed, and the bed is 54 cm high, which can be raised further. The bedroom features an emergency exit with an external ramp to the cottage courtyard. The accessible wet room has a WC with a lever flush handle, single lever mixer tap washbasin, and tiled flooring. There is clearance underneath the washbasin, and there is grab rails and a wheel-in shower. A self-propelled shower wheelchair is provided.
