Location
Situated on the 200 acre Dalvourn Farm, Farr in the beautiful Strathnairn Glen just east of Loch Ness, these 5 self-catering cottages are set in a secluded birch woodland. The Haven has been awarded Category 1 (Unassisted Wheelchair Access) by VisitScotland and all the other cottages have a Category 3 award (Access for Residents with Mobility Difficulties).
From the cottages there is approximately 0.6 miles (1km) of paths (go and return 1.2 miles) which could be suitable for wheelchair access and there are a further three and a half miles of beautiful woodland and riverside walks on Dalvourn Farm.
The location near Loch Ness is perfect for those wishing to explore the local area where you will find a great selection of activities and attractions to suit all ages.
Access
The Haven is classified as a Category 1 (Unassisted Wheelchair Access) cottage and has additional facilities suitable for disabled people including a large wet room bathroom. All the other cottages have a Category 3 award (Access for Residents with Mobility Difficulties).
Each cottage has a solid concrete ramp for wheel chair access and are paved all around the property to provide ease of access to external seating areas, BBQ, clothes drier and the garden shed.
The facilities for disabled guests include lower and easier access to kitchen units and equipment as well as open plan between the kitchen/dining room and the lounge for easier access. The lounge has a riser chair and a large lower window for looking at the mountain beyond and observing the variety of birds coming to feed at the bird table. Both the lounge and twin bedroom have a Smart TV and DVD player. The large bathroom is a wet room with appropriate hand rails around the WC and shower. Other equipment available free of charge for the disabled in The Haven include a wheel chair, wheeled shower chair, mobile hoist, commode, rollator, over bed pole hoist as well as the scooter referred to above.
For guests with mobility difficulties, a scooter can be made available free of charge on request for use on certain designated nature trails subject to availability.

Accommodation
Cathie’s Cottage, Strathnairn, Rowan Ridge and Woodpecker Pad each have three bedrooms comprising one king size with en suite, one twin and one single with a pull out companion bed. There is a shower and bath with shower in each cottage.
The Category 1 accessible cottage, The Haven, has two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a superking size bed with an additional 3 foot Cantona Deco electrically operated Profiling bed with a luxury pocket memory mattress. The second bedroom is a twin with two pull put companion beds and there is also a TV in this bedroom. The large bathroom has a wet room with access from the master bedroom and hallway.

Facilities
These self-catering cottages have all the modern appliances and facilities you would expect from a high quality establishment to ensure you spend the maximum time enjoying your holiday and the minimum time doing the chores. All of the cottages have large windows and carefully positioned bird tables for watching the large variety of wild birds that inhabit the surrounding birch woods. All cottages have patios with outdoor furniture and a gas barbeque, allowing you to sit or dine outside in good weather. Double-glazing and oil-fired central heating ensures that the cottages are snug and warm throughout the year.
Each cottage has a spacious lounge equipped with a TV, DVD player and CD player with Ipod dock. There is a selection of books and board games. Cathie’s Cottage and Strathnairn also have the extra benefit of a sun lounge.
Kitchen equipment includes: electric cooker with oven, washing machine with built-in tumble drier, dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, toaster, kettle, coffee maker and all the utensils and crockery you need for your stay.
Other facilities include :-

- Change over day is Saturday.
